Welcome to the Buffalo Tavern Bed and Breakfast Newsletter
Dear Friend of Buffalo Tavern,

I am sitting here at my desk waiting for the snow storm this evening and looking at Three Top Mountain.  Rays' Weather is expecting about 4 inches at my location.
Winter will be over soon and we can get back to the beauty of our springtime in the mountains!  But, I have to admit that winter is beautiful too!
Keep on the lookout for Ashe County's new tag line for its advertising, Ashe County, the Coolest Corner of North Carolina.  We developed it through our Tourism Committee of the Chamber.
I hope you have a chance to look over my newsletter.  I have included some interesting items for you to enjoy.
     Hail to Springtime!

  Mt. Jefferson State Natural Area

Mt. Jefferson rises abruptly to more than 1600 feet above the surrounding landscape, serving as a landmark for area tourists.  It looms large!  Its dark color is conspicuous among neighboring peaks on the Ashe plateau.  On a clear day you can see for miles from the mountain.  You can notice the farms, fields, forests, and mountains all around.  The forests of Mt. Jefferson are a botanical paradise.  That plant life rendered the park as a national natural landmark.  Be sure not to miss a trip to Mt. Jefferson when you visit.

An Evening with Mildred Lee,
A Woman of the Confederacy
Buffalo Tavern will be sponsoring  "An Evening with Mildred Lee," the youngest daughter of General Robert E. Lee of the Confederacy during the War Between the States.  The event will be held at the Ashe County Civic Center on Saturday, July 27, 2013 and is a fund raiser for the Frescoes Foundation (Those great people who raise money to protect and preserve the two Churches of the Frescoes in Ashe County.)  Tickets will be $15 per person.
Mildred, portrayed by Nora Brooks, has performed at Buffalo Tavern in the past.  Nora is an outstanding performer and truly portrays her role as Mildred with excellence!  She is extremely knowledgable about history and the performance is sure to be a great evening.  Her "conversation" with her audience reminds me of the time I saw Hal Holbrook portray Mark Twain!  What a show!
Plan on a visit to Ashe County to see this one woman show!
I look forward to welcoming you back to Buffalo Tavern!  It IS my pleasure to serve you.
